Senior Vice President/Managing Director, Data Quality & EDO Program Management Fifth Third Bank

Veda Bawo serves as senior vice president and managing director of Enterprise Data Quality and the Enterprise Data Office’s program management. In her role, Veda oversees Fifth Third’s data quality program, as well as the Enterprise Data Office’s portfolio, program and project management, bank-wide data training, data communications and data team engagement. Veda was promoted to senior vice president in 2017.

Before joining Fifth Third Bank in 2016, Veda was the head of North America Wholesale’s Financial Reporting Quality at Rabobank (NY) where she was responsible for developing a quality assurance program over critical data, managing the data quality committee and ensuring the proper controls mitigated data quality risks. She served as a Data quality manager at GE Capital Americas (CT), starting their first data quality program.

Prior to that, Veda spent 15 years at JPMorgan Chase (NY, NJ, DE) in various leadership roles in Corporate Financial Reporting, Finance Reference Data, Corporate & Investment Bank Regulatory Reporting & Operations, ranging from Global Accounting & Operations to Project & Data Management. During her tenure with JPMorgan Chase, Veda: led post-merger process and data integrations in Finance; managed the global intercompany reconciliation for a $700+ billion line of business; managed the bank’s legal document management process, introducing significant automation. Veda started her career as an auditor with PricewaterhouseCoopers (NY), specializing in the financial service industry.
