Vice President, Enterprise Data Strategy Execution Fannie Mae

Kevin Bates has been a technology delivery leader since 2004, with years of experience on enterprise-scale business transformation projects. Kevin Bates is Fannie Mae’s Vice President of Enterprise Data Strategy Execution. Reporting to the Chief Data Officer, Bates is responsible for leading Enterprise Data’s execution and delivery of end-to-end solutions supporting corporate initiatives. This role includes responsibility for delivery of the Enterprise Data Infrastructure (EDI) – the primary vehicle for enterprise-scale data aggregation, integration, and standardization at Fannie Mae. EDI facilitates data flow across the company’s business units and with external parties, in alignment with the Enterprise Data Strategy and Architecture.

Prior to assuming his current position in September 2016, Bates was a delivery director and manager with experience driving solutions for credit loss management and enterprise risk management.

Before joining Fannie Mae in 2003, Bates was the development lead for Adaptive Trade, a small start-up company delivering scientific modeling techniques to optimize natural gas pipeline operations. Prior to this, Bates worked at Xacta Corporation, another startup, where he focused on building automated certification and accreditation solutions for the Department of Defense and civilian agencies. He was also a systems engineer at Telos Corporation and before that at Schlumberger, focused on oil exploration software and technologies.

Bates has a bachelor of science in biochemistry from Texas A&M University and a master of science in chemistry from Rice University. Bates also has published many articles in peer-reviewed science journals on topics including neuroscience, chemistry, and constraint-database computing languages. Bates has also attended Harvard Business School's Executive Leadership training.
